This is the third of the convention walking events hosted by the American Volkssport Association. The Orlando Wetlands Park is a 1,200-acre man-made wetland designed to treat reclaimed water and provide wildlife habitat for over 200 species of birds, otters, foxes, deer, turtles, snakes and alligators. Over 2 million aquatic plants and 200,000 trees currently treat 20 million gallons of water a day. Nineteen miles of berms were used to create a waterway that requires 40 days for the water to pass through before reaching the St. Johns River. Our walk will be mainly on the hard sand berms with a short section of the 11 Km walk that travels on a part of the 1400-mile Florida Trail. Pets are not permitted. Note where there is water – there is a chance of alligators.
